For Chrome, Edge, and other desktop browsers that support Chrome extensions
In Edge, allow extensions from other stores if prompted. In Opera, choose Add to Opera and follow the installation prompts. Install the helper in the same browser you use for TurboTax Online. Safari, Firefox, and mobile apps can export a guide for use on a computer.
Finish or stop any active import first. In the helper, open Helper updates and click Check for updates. If an update is found, reopen the helper after it reloads and refresh your DeductIt and TurboTax tabs. If your older helper has no update button, open your browser’s extension settings (chrome://extensions in Chrome or edge://extensions in Edge), turn on Developer mode, then click Update. Reopen the helper and check its version. Refresh DeductIt after updating.
Store updates can take time to apply. If necessary, close and restart your browser after finishing your transfer. Work-managed computers may require your IT administrator’s help.
Finish any transfer already in progress before switching helpers. The Store and manual copies keep separate transfer histories, so the new copy won’t know which charities you already entered. Select only charities that still need to be entered.
Some work-managed computers block Developer mode or manual extension installation. If yours does, ask your IT administrator to approve installation or wait for the Store update.
chrome://extensions; in Edge, type edge://extensions. In other browsers, open Extensions from the browser menu. If a DeductIt TurboTax Helper is already installed from the Store, switch it off. Keep only one copy enabled.manifest.json, rather than the ZIP file. If extraction created an extra enclosing folder, open it to find the folder containing that file.Updating a manual installation: Download and extract the newer ZIP, replace the files in the same installed folder, then click the circular Reload button on its card in your browser’s extension settings. Refresh your DeductIt and TurboTax tabs. Keep the same folder and extension installed to retain its transfer history. Manual installations don’t update automatically.
Returning to the Store version: Once the Store copy has the same or a newer version, finish your current transfer, disable the manual copy, and enable the Store copy. Their transfer histories remain separate; don’t re-enter charities already transferred.
